brahman cattle

The Brahman is a medium sized beef breed, with bulls weighing between 700 to 1000 kg and cows weighing between 450 kg to 650 kg. Calves are generally small. also  Brahman is mainly used for breeding and the meat industry. It has been crossbred extensively with Bos taurus (European) beef breeds of cattle. It has been used to develop numerous other S.A beef breeds including Brangus, Beefmaster, Simbrah and Santa Gertrudis. The Brahman is produced all over South Africa. The Brahman is a medium sized beef breed, with bulls weighing between 700 to 1000 kg and cows weighing between 450 kg to 650 kg. Calves are generally small, with a birth weight averaging between 25 to 35 kg, but grow rapidly and wean at weights comparable to other breeds.

BRAHMAN CALVES 

Young cattle of both sexes are called calves until they are weaned, then weaners until they are a year old in some areas; in other areas, particularly with male beef cattle, they may be known as feeder-calves or simply feeders. After that, they are referred to as yearlings or stirks if between one and two years of age. The cows are of a medium size (550-600 kg), at birth the calves weigh on average from 40 to 45 kg. The male fattening calves are ready for slaughtering at a weight of 550-650 kg when they are about 15-18 month old, the females at about 350-450 kg when they are about 14-16 months old.

MALE BOER GOAT

The most-prized Boer goats are large, stocky animals with a white body and a red head, brown eyes, lop (downward-hanging) ears, backward-curving horns, and strong, well-placed legs. Adult males often reach 160 kg (350 pounds), and females can weigh as much as 110 kg (about 250 pounds).

BOER GOAT CALVE

Birth weight of Boer kids ranges from 3 to 4 kg with male kids weighing about 0.5 kg heavier than female (Figure 1). Kids at weaning can weigh from 20 to 25 kg, depending on weaning methods and age. At 7 month of age, bucks weigh about 40 to 50 kg while doelings weight about 35 to 45 kg

Many commercial producers turn to the Brahman F-1 female, known as the “Queens of Cow Country,” because of their bred-in environmental adaptability, increased . Also brahman cow could expect to give birth around eight to twelve times in their 20 year lifespan, however they are usually culled much sooner than that in farming situations ,and can weigh up to from 1600 to 2200 kg

FEMALE BORE GOAT
